"SHAPED" is a general term used to describe tooling that has been lapped or shaped through a variety of procedures to a prescribed geometry which, when used in a variety of machining operations, will result in a predetermined finish. Shaped tooling is made with natural diamond, mono crystal man made diamonds, PCD and CBN micro grained products.

KEEN KUT PRODUCTS manufactures a complete line of natural, mono and PCD diamond tooling. This tooling is available in the traditional solid shank or our "interchangeable" insert system. Keen Kut tooling is used in the AEROSPACE, AUTOMOTIVE, ELECTRO-OPTIC, CONTACT LENS and ELECTRIC MOTOR industries. electric motor industries. Keen Kut natural and mono crystal insert tools are vacuum brazed to tungsten carbide and lapped on site. Tool holders are pre manufactured to allow inserts to be used in predetermined machining operations. For the Contact Lens Industry tool shanks are available with right and left hand offset angles at 15, 30 and 45 degree and with straight shank presentations.

KEEN KUT PRODUCTS also manufactures a complete line of CBN shaped tooling in both a straight shank and insert type presentation. CBN tooling is commonly used in the machining of hardened tool steels, hardened alloy steels (Rockwell C45 or greater), most nickel and cobalt super alloys and cast irons.

As a general summary, Keen Kut shaped tools can be used for fly cutting, turning, boring, facing, milling and grooving operations. Special design diamond and CBN products can be manufactured at our plant per customer request after receiving a detailed print or sample tooling. Keen Kut offers relapping service for all shaped tooling. This service is provded for Keen Kut tooling as well as other manufacturers tooling.
